Wei Zi Gang

Unbeknownst to you, you are the most genuine person I’ve ever met. Someone who isn't afraid to admit his mistake, to cry, to express your disinterest in something, or even to laugh at a joke that seemed funny to only you. It was because of this that I learned to trust those around me, to open up and be more like myself, and to step up with confidence.

I had a blast in service term talking cock in bunk and even having deep conversations (surprisingly) once in a while. The time when we discovered that we both like horror game theories and ended up watching dreaming mary playthrough and explanation will always be something I will remember.

We’ve had some rough patches where our friendship was tested: When we didn't lock the door during the leadership challenge (lol), and the trip flare we forgot to bring out to Ex Centipede. How did we overcome it? It was precisely because of our willingness, to be honest with each other, and to be open to admitting our mistakes and taking the blame. I could see it in your eyes that you felt the guilt and perhaps felt embarrassed about your mistake. That was enough, enough for me to take the extra.

Please never forget this trait about yourself and always be the Zigang I know and met from day 1.

Two of my biggest inspirations as I integrated into OCS and Tango specifically. I don't think I'd be the person I am today if it weren't for them. They taught me how to be a leader that is fair and merciful. Both have shown me a great level of compassion, deciding not to punish us when we make mistakes, but to make sure we understood the significance of those mistakes.  The point was not to see us suffer, but it was clear that their intention was to see us succeed. They had a way of accomplishing their tasks in a proficient manner despite their lack of "tough love". It showed me that as a commander, winning the respect of my men was the most important thing. With respect, there wouldn't be the issue of worrying about whether they would listen to me or not, and having to burn them and watch them suffer in order for a task to be completed.
