Platoon Warrant Officers: MSG Hidhir, MSG Stamford Ee, MSG Bryant

Master Hidhir, Master Stamford, and Master Bryant: Throughout this journey, they have been the most humble, professional, skillful, and caring instructors I've met thus far. They’ve shown what it truly means to be a respectable soldier. I’ve personally gained an appreciation and respect for the army because of them.

At first glance, having pre-ops prep of them using a ruler to measure every single badge on the No.1, or making sure that all our zip locks were completely airtight and clear may have seemed unnecessary and almost irritating. However, it was only till the execution phase that we realized how important these things were. It was during CSB when I appreciated my zip locks being completely airtight as we traversed the swampy waters. It was during the parade rehearsal vetting where I stared into the glass panes and saw a neatly clad officer staring back, it was during the parade when my parents from the grandstands witnessed the sharpest and smartest looking version of Justin they’ve seen.

Tough love, as they call it, would be what these PWOs have shown me.

It was through the very last weeks when we practiced our parade rehearsals, that we were able to see their hearts on full display. Master Stamford, Master Hidhir. Drilling us, reminding us to keep our weapons straight, to lift up our legs, to look upwards, to have our chests pushed out. Sunny, rainy, it didn't matter. They stood there with us, by our sides, enduring the heat, the cold, the elements, staying back after practice had ended to help us with extra drills. They never left us, let us down, or deserted us. All to what end? For them to get a pay rise? For them to claim extra overtime pay?

No. It was all done so that the chicks that they raised for 6 months could have the best times of their lives before leaving the nest. Leaving the nest, that they will perhaps never come back to again.

Respect. One word that describes all that they’ve done for us. You’ve taught me what values and pride a soldier should have. It doesn't matter that we’ve commissioned as 2LT, you will always have my respect, Enciks.
